Commission holds Assistant Accounts Officer and Sarasadevi responsible
Hyderabad, May 9, 2008The Justice A Venkatarami Reddy Commission that probed the misappropriation of Rs.14.84 crore of District Primary Education programme (Sarva Siksha Abhiyan) held V Subramanyam, who worked as an Assistant Accounts Officer in the SSA State Project Director's office and N Sarasadevi, an outsider being mainly responsible for the crime.
The Commission's report that placed before the State Cabinet today also named J Prasad, S Venkaiah and R Malathi who worked as finance and accounts officers during this period as being negligent in discharging their supervisory duties. The Commission found Harsha Pradeep, Vijitha, Sarasadevi, R Narasimha Rao, R Rambabu and Bhavani guilty as the money was transferred to their bank accounts. The Commission also found fault with the bank managers of Indian Bank and Vijaya Bank being responsible for the crime as they abetted the misappropriation.
Speaking to media, the Public Relations Minister, Anam Ramnarayana Reddy said that the Cabinet had approved the findings of the Commission and has asked to continue the criminal proceedings against them and fasten the steps for recovery of the money.
