Hyderabad, March 8, 2008

The office of Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee has denied here that had conceded an upswing in the separate Telangana movement when members of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) submitted their resignations to him on Monday.

Responding to the TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao making such a claim at a news conference on Thursday, the office clarified in a statement that Somnath Chatterjee had at no time no person spoken in that manner. It also denied Somnath Chatterjee commenting that the Congress was certain to face defeat in the next elections owing to resignation by TRS MPs. The statement was signed by the Officer on Special Duty to the Speaker.
