Hyderabad, March 8, 2008

As the last date for filing nominations for six Rajya Sabha seats from the State, hectic lobbying is on in the Congress and TDP camps. R Chandrasekhara Reddy, NP Durga, Laljan Basha and A Sudarshan of TDP and N Yellaiah and T Subbirami Reddy of Congress will demit office on April 9. In view of the strength in Assembly, the main Opposition TDP will be able to win only one seat while Congress might go for five.

With five seats up for grabs, Congress leaders are busy pushing their candidature. Both Subbirami Reddy and N Yellaiah are trying for renomination while Chief Minister, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy who remaineded unsuccessful in his two previous attempts to push his close aide KVP Ramachandra Rao to the Upper House is believed to be determined this time.

PCC in charge president GS Rao, former Chief Minister, Nadendla Bhaskara Rao, former Union Ministers P Upendra and P Shivasankar are also in the race. There is no possibility of State Government's representative in Delhi Mallu Ravi getting a ticket for Rajya Sabha according to party sources.
