TRS cadre raises protests, Wants statements to be withdrawn
Hyderabad, March 7, 2008
Reacting sharply over Sri Satya Sai Baba's remarks on Telangana, the TRS today wanted him to withdrew them. TRS senior leader T Harish Rao alleged that the Chief Minister, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy and his cronies were behind Baba's remarks, a motley group of TRS student wing staged protest at Shivam hermitage of the Satya Sai organization that abuts Osamina University.
The Amberpet Police, who got wind of the protest, thwarted their attempt to storm into Shivam. Nearly 15 youths all students of OU were taken in preventive custody. The sloganeering students gathered in front of Shivam at about 11.30am. On Thursday, the God man remarked that if vivisected, Andhra Pradesh too could go to the USSR way and disintegrate. This was the second time that Sri Satya Sai Bab expressed himself against the separatist movement.
According to East Zone DCP T Prabhakar Rao said that they took them into custody under section 151 of the Cr.PC and released them later. The police ensured that they did not barge into the premises. At a press conference, Harish Rao asked Sri Satya Sai Baba not to poke his nose into politics. The TDP condemned the TRS leaders' outburst against god man and its leaders said that Satya Sai Baba was entitled to his opinion and added that he had rendered great service to all three regions of the State.
