Endowments Minister presents customary silk fabrics at Srisailam
Kurnool, March 5, 2008The Minister for Endowments Ratnakara Rao and his wife presented customary silk fabrics to the presiding deity Mallikharjuna Swamy and his consort Sri Bramarambhika Devi on the eve of Maha Shivaratri at Srisailam on Wednesday night. The couple presented the clothes on behalf of the State Government. They were accompanied by Atmakur MLA E Pratap Reddy and ZP Chairman L Venkata Swamy.
Heavy rush of pilgrims was reported on Wednesday. Devotees took nearly eight to ten hours to have darsan. The District Collector M Dana Kishore and SP Shankabratha Bagchi reviewed the sefcurity and other arrangements at Srisailam on Wednesday. In the wake of heavy rush of pilgrims, the authorities are making special efforts to ensure drinking water supply and sanitation.
According to authorities, the pilgrim rush is expected to cross 10 lakh during the festival season. The Executive Officer, Sankar Reddy welcomed the Minister with purnakumbham. In Warangal, the celebrations began at the ancient Rudreswara Swamy temple, popularly known as Thousand Pillar temple on Wednesday. Nearly five lakh devotees are expected to throng the temple.
