Raghupati Venkaiah Award to Ramanaidu
Hyderabad, March 31, 2008The NTR National Film Award for 2006 goes to bollywood actress Waheeda Rehman. A three member selection committee comprising KP Tilak, Jayasuda and A Suryanarayana met today and selected Waheeda Rehman for the award which carries Rs.5 lakhs in cash and a citation. It may be noted that she was born in Hyderabad on May 14, 1936 and also acted in a couple of Telugu films before entering into Hindi Film industry.
The AP State Film Television and Theatre Development Corporation has selected veteran Telugu Producer D Ramanaidu for the Raghupati Venkaiah Award for 2006 in recognition of his services to the film industry.
Ramanaidu was born on June 6, 1936 at Karamchedu in Prakasam district. He earned a name for himself as film producer and distributor. He also acted in a couple of films. The award carries Rs.50,000 in cash, a golden Nandi, a gold medal and a citation.
