Home Minister inaugurates SCMC at Commissioner Office
Hyderabad, March 29, 2008The Home Minister, K Jana Reddy inaugurated the Surveillance Camera Monitoring Centre (SCMC), the first of its kind in the State at the City Police Commissioner’s Office at Basheerbagh today. Speaking on the occasion, the Jana Reddy said apart from upgrading technology in the Police Department, efforts were on to recruit 37,000 constables across the State.
Mr. Reddy said that the Government is making arrangements to fill the posts of Station House Officers by inducting inspector level officers and 110 of 571 sanctioned posts of Civil Sub Inspectors and 36 out of 71 sanctioned posts of Reserve Sub Inspectors, which were vacant during this year.
A total of 63-speed dome and 36 fixed cameras were being installed at 89 important junctions in the city. Another six cameras would be kept in reserve to cover important locations requiring surveillance in future. For monitoring the cameras, leased line/ OFC connectivity was being provided by the BSNL between the camera points and SCMC. Power being provided by the APCPDCL and other infrastructure had been made available b the GHMC. The AP State Police Housing Corporation built the Control Room. Senior officials have participated in this occasion.
