Cheating case registered
Vijayanagaram, March 29, 2008The Bhogapuram police today nabbed four persons who posed themselves as officials of Reliance Company and promised the farmers to double the value of the lands by setting up petrol bunks. They collected some amount from the farmers in this connection and fled away. Interestingly, no complaints were filed by the farmers but the police made the break through while investigating another case in which the accused posed as Reliance Officers and took away Rs.19,000 from a petrol bunk.
The accused Asharaf Sharif Pasha, his son Sayed Abbas, their relative Shaik Shabuddin from Eluru and their driver Shaik Babu of Gannavaram from Krishna district posing as Reliance Officers, visited the farmers who had lands near the National Highways. They lured the farmers into believing that the Reliance Company who is setting up petrol bunk and is ready to pay huge amounts for their land.
They promised to pay them double the value of land but sought some amount as their commission, which the farmers happily agreed to pay. They entered into a fake agreement and took the some amount as their commission from the farmers. According to Additional Superintendent of Police, KK Achary speaking to media that the accused checked a Reliance petrol pump at Saripalli on March 19 and took away Rs.19,000 from the cash counter which was reported by the petrol pump manager to the police. The accused were involved in several crimes including the theft of four wheelers in Hyderabad, a murder and another car theft case in Nalgonda district.
