APIIC indicted for incorrect land allotment

Hyderabad, March 28, 2008

The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited (APIIC) has lost out on Rs.308.46 crore by way of revenue due to incorrect allotment of land to various industrial units at a reduced rates during the financial year 2006-07. The observation figured in the report of Comptroller Auditor General (CAG) that was placed in the State Assembly today.

It made stinging remarks while dealing with the APIIC land allotment procedures, pointed out that allotment of land on lease a nominal rent of Rs.1 per acre was under favor to a private company, Brandix India Apparel City Private Limited. The CAG said that the State Government's revenue receipts stood at Rs.44,245 crore of which Rs.23,926 crore was through tax revenue. The arrears of revenue in various departments to the tune of Rs.5,842 crore out of which Rs.2,289 crore has been pending for more than five years.

The CAG pointed out several irregularities in the implementation of AP Urban Services for the Poor programme covering 42 Class I towns. It observed that unfruitful expenditure on water supply works, excess payments, losses, non-accountable of funds, parking of funds in fixed deposits were some of the irregularities it pointed out. It also added that the monitoring was poor at all levels.
