Hyderabad, March 28, 2008

The State Government in a move to increase the police force has on Friday announced recruitment of 1,700 Sub Inspectors posts to be filled up. Nearly 197 Deputy Jailer posts are to be filled up as a part of recruitment drive.

The government took the decision to increase the police force by recruiting 47,000 police personnel, in view of the Mecca Masjid blast and twin blasts in that took place in the last year. The Home Minister, K Jana Reddy has announced that the process of recruitment will be done in a phased manner. Recently, the government has issued notification for recruitment of 17,000 police constables. Interested candidates can apply for the posts and the applications are sold from May 5 to 31 said the Police Recruitment Board Chairman, Ratan. The age limit for applying for the posts are set to 25 years of age. Despite repeated requests for increase in the age limit, the government has not increased the age limit according to the release. However, for the posts of Deputy Jailors, the age limit is set to be 28 years.
