Meet to be held from March 23 to 27
Hyderabad, March 21, 2008The stage is all set for the XX Congress of the CPI here from March 23 to 27. This is the third time that Andhra Pradesh is playing host to the CPI National Congress and in the two previous occasions being held in 1975 and 1992. Besides all the top leaders of the CPI, representatives of the CPM, the Forward Block and Communist Party leaders from 24 other countries would be taking part in the event.
The National Conference assumes significance in the wake of strained relations between UPA Government and the Left Parties on the nuke deal. The National Congress will decide the party's line on various issues concerning the nation. The congress will commence with flag hoisting by veteran leader B Dharma Biksham at 10 am on March 23 while the CPI leaders will receive a torch which is on its way from Doddi Komaraiah Telangana Martyr Memorial in Kadivendi.
CPI general secretary will delivery the inaugural and fraternal delegate and CPM general secretary Prakash Karat will also speak at the inaugural session. CPI delegates from across the country will deliberate on political and economic issues of which draft resolutions have already been circulated among them. The congress will conclude with a mammoth public meeting in Nizam College Grounds on March 27.
