Shoban Babu dies of cardiac arrest
Hyderabad, March 20, 2008The popular Telugu actor of yester years Shoban Babu died here today following a cardiac arrest according to family sources. He was 71 and survived by wife, son and three daughters. Shoban Babu, who enjoyed stardom along with the superstars of Telugu Cinema like NT Rama Rao an Akkineni Nageswararao in the 1970s and early 80s, was rushed to hospital after his nose started bleeding while he was performing yoga in the morning, said the family sources.
He was born in Chinanandigama, near Vijayawada in 1937, he made his entry into Telugu Films with 'Daivabalam' and later grabbed attention with movies like 'Bhakta Sabari' and 'Veerabhimnyu'. Leading Telugu directors including K Visawanath and Baapu have taken Babu in some of their hit films. He won many awards including the Filmfare and Andhra Pradesh State Nandi Awards. He later switched over to real estate business in Chennai and settled.
As the news of his death broke through electronic media, a pal of gloom descended on Chinanandigama village of G Honduran Mandal of Krishna district, the native place of Shoban Babu. His relatives including brother Sambasiva Rao and uncle stay in the village. His cousin and former MLA J Ramesh and other relatives rushed to Chennai by flight. Shoban Babu completed his primary education in Chinanandigama, high school education at Kuntamukkala and Mylavaram villages and studied PUC at Machilipatnam and degree at Andhra Loyola College at Vijayawada. Later, he left to Chennai to study law but entered into movie world.
