Condition of ten disabled persons deteriorates, Rushed to hospital
Hyderabad, March 12, 2008
The flash agitation launched by MRPS president Manda Krishna Madiga last night with a cluster of disabled persons of Vikalangula Hakkula Porta Samithi at Muralidhar Bagh in Abids, entered second day today as no assurance came from the government to settle the long pending demands. Meanwhile, the condition of ten disabled persons deteriorated and they were rushed to hospital.
The MRPS president threatened to intensify the agitation if the Chief Minister did not concede the demands of the disabled. On behalf of the government, Anita Rajendra, Commissioner for Disabled Welfare met Krishna Madiga and held discussions with his and VHPS leaders. The Commissioner assured them that the government would look into their problems. The government had agreed to increase the pension to Rs.500 and called upon the agitating leaders to cooperate with the government.
Krishna Madiga told the Commissioner that unless the government issued specific Government Orders (GO)s, they would not withdraw the agitation. He asked the government to study the Pondicherry Government's disabled pension scheme that gives amounts varying from Rs.1000, Rs.1250 and Rs.1500. The other demands include free houses, electricity and implementation of GO 1095 entitling five acres of land.
