Hyderabad police seizes fake currency worth over Rs.36 lakhs

The Hyderabad police today arrested two persons and seized fake currency worth over Rs.36 lakhs. The arrested persons are Mohammed Shoukat Ali of Maida district in West Bengal and KV Satyanaryana Reddy of East Godavari district in the Andhra Pradesh.

Hyderabad, June 20, 2008

The Police are able to trace that the fake currency are printed in the Government Printing Press in Karachi. Sources also say that it was this very same press that also printed Rs.2.36 crore worth bogus currency that was seized on August 25 last year.

The Andhra Pradesh Police and West Bengal Police in a joint operation seized the fake currency and arrested two persons. This operation is believed to be the the first of its kind during this year. The main accused in the case, Natfal Shaik is a resident of Baikul village in Shibanuj police limits in Bangladesh was the key person who was in touch with terror groups and some ISI agents.

According to highly placed sources, the comparison of the fake currency notes seized by various agencies earlier in different places and the duplicates notes that were seized today confirmed that the printing press in Karachi was the bogus currency worth several crores of rupees. Intelligence officials in West Bengal reportedly have information that fake currency worth several crores of rupees is lying at different places in Kolkata that is to be delivered to the agents at different parts.
