Chief Minister says TRS sentiment is not a patent of TRS

Says results reflects failure of TRS strategy

Hyderabad, June 1, 2008

The performance of Congress in the by elections in Telangana, the Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy said that the people proved that Telangana sentiment was not a monopolyor a patent of the TRS. Speaking to media, the Chief Minister said that the results reflected the miserable failure of the TRS President K Chandrasekhara Rao's strategy and at the same time, negated the claims that the Congress won with the help of TRS in the 2004 by elections. In fact, it turned out to be other way round.

Dr. Reddy said that the results showed that people accepted and response to the development and welfare schemes launched by the Congress-led Government and that the unprecedented scale has helped the Congress secure majority in 19 Assembly segments-thirteen segments under four Lok Sabha seats and 6 it won of the 46 Assembly segments where the by elections were held.

The Congress opened doors into some of the constituencies like Dichpally, Vikarabad and Yellareddy which it had not won since 1983 while it won segments like Jedcherla which it won only once during th past 25 years. He said that the results were a slap on the face of the arrogant a deceitful politics of the opposition parties.
