TDP President Chandrababu Naidu makes announcement
Hyderabad, January 9, 2008The Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday announced that three percent reservations would be implemented for the minorities in jobs and educational institutions if his party returned to power in the next elections.
Speaking members of the newly constituted TDP Minorities Cell after administering an oath to them at NTR Bhavan, he said the reservations initially would be three percent and scaled up to five percent to later.
He demanded that the UPA government bring in a bill to amend the constitution providing for five percent reservations to minorities. The party would support the bill. The United National Progressive Alliance would launch a country wide movement demanding five percent reservations.
