Hyderabad, January 8, 2008

In a joint operation, officials of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Andhra Pradesh and the Delhi Police rescued 51 women, who were forced into flesh trade from Red light area in Delhi last night. The officials arrested 24 traffickers who brought them and took them to Delhi where they sold them to brothels.

A few days back, the officials had rescued several women from Pune. All are of aged below 22 years and most of them from Anatapur and Chittoor districts and the traffickers from Andhra Pradesh. According to CID, Inspector General of Police, S Umapathi said that all the women were trafficked when they were aged around 18. They were bought by the traffickers from various amounts and in turn sold them to brothels in Delhi and charged Rs.40,000 to 50,000 from the brothels.

He said that the rescue operations with the assistance of Delhi Police began at 7.30pm and continued till late in the night. Basing on the search warrants from Anatapur court, the officials conducted the raids in Delhi.
