AP Vaidya Vidhana Parishad Minister makes announcement

Hyderabad, January 7, 2008

The AP Vaidya Vidhana Parishad Minister, V Venakateswara Rao and Medical Education Minister, G Aruna Kumari after a meeting with the Chief Minister, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy to review the health programmes. They announced that the State Government will consider proposal for appointment of administrators to all hospitals across the State with a 100 bed strength hospitals including teaching hospitals.

They said that the meeting discussed the desirability of having administrators to supervise upkeep of cleanliness and facilities for patients. The Chief Minister has agreed for the proposals. They said that the idea of administrators was mooted since the Superintendents and Resident Medical Officers were unable to devote time to sanitation.

The Chief Minister insisted on clean hospital to instill confidence in patients. He ordered completion of repairs and colour wash in all hospital buildings within a year. To keep a check on the spurious drugs flooding in the market, the Chief Minister sanctioned 50 posts of Drug Inspectors to be filled in the next month. The Medical Education Minister said that the Chief Minister has agreed to include of polytrama cases and road accidents in the Rajiv Arogyasri, a health insurance scheme for BPL families. Health cards would be issued to patients insured in the first phase in Anatapur, Mahabubnagar and Srikakulam districts. She said that this facility will be extended to the accredited journalists in the second phase.
