Party activists to organize bicycle rallies

Hyderabad, January 30, 2008

In an apparent bid to consolidate its base among the backward classes, the Telugu Desam party today decided to give 33 percent seats to BCs in the next assembly and Lok Sabha elections. The TDP president, N Chandrababu Naidu announcing this at the party’s State meeting asked the Assembly constituency in charges to identify second rung leaders at mandal and Zilla Parishad level and groom them into public figures for the next elections.

It may be recalled that the TDP demanded 33 percent reservation in legislatures for BCs in the recently held BC Garjana at Warangal. He said that if the government did not implement this, the TDP would give 33 percent seats in 294 Assembly segments to BCs.

He reiterated his earlier stand that youth would be given 40 percent seats and a fair share to women in the allotment of seats in the next coming elections. He directed the activists to organize bicycle rallies to expose the government’s misdeeds and corruption.
