Hyderabad, January 30, 2008A day after seven Chiranjeevi fans gave themselves up to the Punjagutta police in the case relating to the attack on actor Rajasekhar, police officials today said the number was actually nine and that three of those who surrendered were not involved in the case. Police surprised what prompted them to surrender when they are not involved in the case and are investigating is going on.
Police sources said that the six of them had confessed to their involvement but they reiterated their version that they had no plans to attack the actor and his family. Meanwhile, the Hyderabad Police Commissioner, B Prasada Rao on Wednesday opined that the actor and his family should have been escorted till his Jubilee Hills residence instead of leaving them half way through as the cops did. He regretted the act of police in escorting the family of the actor till to his residence.
He admitted that actor Rajasekhar had informed the North Zone DDCP about his arrival and told him that trouble could breakout at the Secunderabad railway station. The officers received them and escorted them till some distance. The Commissioner admitted the lapse on the part of the police officers. He said the same at a ‘Meet the Press ‘programme organized at Somajiguda Press Club. He added that they have not anticipated trouble.
