Hyderabad, January 3, 2008An advance security team from Uttar Pradesh arrived in the city in view of the visit of the Chief Minister of UP, Mayavati on her two day visit to the city from January 5. Police officials say that this is the first time that an advance security team has arrived, a full three days before a Chief Minister (excluding Chief Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir and Gujarat) is to visit the city.
According to sources, the UP police team that also comprises their Intelligence officials would conduct a 'recce' at Nizam College where she is scheduled to visit political leaders on the first day of her visit and address a public meeting on the next day and virtually take over both the venues. They said that the security of UP Chief Minister has become a cause of concerned in the wake of November's serial blasts in UP and the recent terror attack at CRPF camp at Rampur.
Sources said that the UP police top brass were concerned what with Hyderabad known to be a communally sensitive city and even more because of the three blasts last year. While a host of VVIPs are visiting the city including the President of India, Pratiba Patil who is in the city, the post of Joint Commissioner of Police (Security and Coordination) in the Hyderabad Police is lying vacant after Rajiv Ratan was transferred to the new unit OCTOPUS.
