Gives away best HSD KMPL awards to drivers and mechanics

Hyderabad, January 29, 2008

The Minister for Transport Kanna Lakshminarayana on Tuesday assured the staff and workers of the AP State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) that not a single person from among them would be retrenched. He asked them not to be carried away by rumors.

The minister gave away the best HSD KMPL awards to drivers and mechanics. At a function marking the Oil and Gas Conservation Fortnight, he said that every person should remember that the petroleum resources were not infinite and take every step to save precious fuel. APSRTC Managing Director, V Dinesh Reddy congratulated the best performers and said that if the present level of 5.23 kmpl was scaled upto 5.60 kmpl, it would lead to the corporation saving Rs.108 crore every year.

Executive Director, Engineering and Information Technology U Sudhakar Rao reminded the employees of the incentives offered for fuel conservation. He said that so far, the APSRTC bagged 26 awards from the Petroleum Conservation Research Association and 32 from the Association of State Road Transport Undertakings.
