Hyderabad, January 29, 2008

The Governor, ND Tiwari inaugurating the NTR Memorial Trust’s Virtual Blood Bank here on Tuesday said that youth in general and students of higher education in particular were the best sources. He wanted rigorous attempts to enlist and retain as many as students as possible as voluntary blood donors. Speaking on the occasion, he appealed to all healthy individuals to make blood donation every three months without fail.

The TDP President, N Chandrababu Naidu and the Managing Trustee, said that there was acute shortage of blood units. He called for promoting a sense of service in people particularly in youth. He asked the rich to donate ten percent of their earnings for improving the lot of the poor. He added that the strength of the NTR Trust run school would be increased to 1,000 next year. The Trust would also launch, in a big way, training programmes for upgrading the skills of unemployed youth.

Kodela Siva Prasada Rao, said that the blood bank would make blood available anywhere and at anytime in the State. Trust CEO K Umesh said that the blood units would be provided free of cost to the poor including transfusion for Thalassaemia patients.
