Recovers stolen sword
Hyderabad, January 24, 2008According to reliable sources, the City and Cyberabad Police arrested at least four persons reportedly to be involved in the sensational theft at the AP State Museum at Public Gardens on January 17. Unconfirmed reports suggested that one of the two swords belonging to Nizam’s era were stolen from the museum and believed to have been recovered. However, the police did not confirm the news.
The four suspects involved in the theft operation are believed to be hailing from Maharashtra and Bihar. They are said to have been brought to the museum premises late last night after which they led the official to an isolated place near the railway tracks behind the public gardens from where the sword was reportedly recovered. It is learnt that some officials from the AP State Museum to identify whether the recovered sword was the same. It is not clear whether they have confirmed to the police that it was the same one, which was stolen from the museum.
