Directs East Godavari District Collector to submit a report by February 7

The Andhra Pradesh Human Rights Commission (APHRC) on Monday gave a direction for the unconditional release of the cultivators opposing the Kakinada Special Economic Zone.
The APHRC sought a report from the East Godavari District Collector by February 7 on the need for imposing of section 144 CrPC and arrest of cultivators. In an order issued in the petition filed by Human Rights Forum, the Commission Chairman, B Subhashan Reddy and member E Ismail noted that the cultivators who resisted the action of the authorities in taking over their lands cannot be treated as ordinary criminals.
