TDP alleges scaling down of his security cover

Hyderabad, January 18, 2008

The Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu purchased a new Tata Safari car and converted into bullet proof vehicle and inducted it into his convey today. He said that he will buy five more such vehicles to be used as 'dummies' carrying his Black Cat commandos. Till now, he is using a six Ambassador car convey that includes a bullet proof vehicle. The present one has outlived its purpose having already logged over 2 lakh km. The condition of the other cars is no better, what with the jammer fitted car suffering a break down right infornt of the Assembly in the last winter session.

According to Telugu Desam Party sources said that the ruling government had been ignoring Chandrababu Naidu's repeated pleas for new vehicles and had not allotted any vehicle to him from among the recently procured 20 bullet proof Mahindra Scorpios. These were alloted to the Chief Minister, his cabinet colleagues and other VVIPs.

The State government reported offered one Scorpio bullet proof vehicle, but the former Chief Minister turned down as he insisted five more cars. Sources said that Chandrababu Naidu is a Z+ category protectee and it is a known fact that his life is under threat but the government choose to ignore this forcing him to make his own arrangements.
