TRS sets deadline for Separate Telangana

CM says that Congress and UPA government is not coward by threats

Hyderabad, January 16, 2008

In a related development, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has set a fresh dead line to the Congress and UPA government setting March 6 for creating a separate Telangana and initiate the process of bifurcating of the State.

Speaking at a crowded press conference here today, the TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao announced that if the UPA Government fails to react before the deadline, TRS MPs, MLAs and MLCs, 4,16 and 3 respectively will resign and launch a door to door campaign to explain the mass the betrayal by the Congress. He came out heavily on the TDP and Congress. He warned that the fourth coming budget session would be the final chance for the UPA Government to carve out Telangana. He demanded that the Prime Minister should make an official announcement and initiate the process of creating a separate Telangana.

He charged Chandrababu Naidu, TDP president for describing the ongoing the pink party as an issue between the TRS and Congress. The Chief Minister, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy said that the Congress is not going to be cowed by such threats. BJP Leader Ch Vidyasagara Rao welcomed the TRS move in the hope that it would build pressure on the Congress higher ups. The Telugu Desam Party had not reacted immediately.
