Chalo Hyderabad rally on January 21
Hyderabad, January 13, 2008The struggle committee against trifurcation of Medical, Health and Family Welfare department expressed its resolve to go on indefinite strike from the midnight of January 28 if the State Government does not drop the proposal by them.
The committee, representing various employees unions of the department said in a press conference on Sunday that it was firm about pressing the strike notice it had served on the government on December 19. It would wait for the Government to respond until the 'Chalo Hyderabad' programme by departmental staff across the State on January 21. The Chairman of the committee, G Wisdom Chowdary said 84,000 personnel posted in various institutions would participate in the strike.
He charged that the government proposed to trifurcate the department into Medical Education, Vaidya Vidhana Parishad and Health wings with the aim to divide and rule the staff. He said that the move would cause severe hardship to poor patients as separate departments would have to trake their shiftings from district headquarters hospitals to teaching hospitals.
