Resignations of TRS public representatives will not serve purpose

CPI (M) advised to part ways with the Congress

Hyderabad, February 9, 2008

The Bharatiya Janata Party’s former president M Venkaiahnaidu has said that the threat of TRS party MPs and MLAs to resign in protest against the delay in creating a separate Telanagana State serve no purpose.

At a press conference held here on Saturday, he said that the TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu feared that the Congress could replicate the situation in Karnataka where elections were deferred by citing defective voter lists and the on going delimitation of constituencies as reasons. The party might play the same trick in the State also.

He criticized the Congress for accusing the BJP of being soft towards terrorism during the latter’s rule. He highlighted several instances when the BJP government had dealt strictly with terrorists, he said.
