Hyderabad, February 9, 2008

The Communist Party of India State Council has threatened to stop the movement of private buses if the government did not desist from its move to hire private buses. The CPI State secretary, K Narayana expressed shock over the Andhra Pradesh High Court decision to quash a petition filed against hiring of private buses.

He opined that the decision to allow private buses was tantamount to privatize the APSRTC. Despite the High Court’s order, the government should take steps to withdraw the hired buses in a phased manner.

He recalled that the Transport Department addressed a letter to the APSRTC management to withdraw hired buses, he criticized the government for failing to implement the assurance.
