Triple tragedy strikes Telugu film industry

Two well-known comedians passes away, Kunai committed suicide

Hyderabad, February 7, 2008

It is a triple tragedy for the Telugu Film Industry today with three actors including two well-known comedians passing away. Veteran comedian Kalpana Rai who acted in over 400 films died of ill health at her residence in Indiranagar this morning. Though she acted in so many films, it was a hand to mouth existence for her. Movie Artistes’ Association donated Rs.10,000 for her funeral and there were hardly any visitors to pay their last respects.

Another comedian Lakshmipathi died of massive heart attack here this afternoon. The 52-year-old actor was brother of Film Director Sobhan who died under similar circumstances hardly a month ago. Lakshmipathi acted nearly in 40 films.

In another incident, Kunai, a Mumbai-based actor who acted as hero in Telugu film allegedly committed suicide at his residence in Mumbai this morning according to Tollywood sources.
