Hyderabad, February 7, 2008

Senior Congress leaders from Telangana today called on the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh to press for creating of a separate Telangana State. A 15-member delegation led by Congress Working Committee member G Venkataswamy met the Prime Minister and explained him the fast changing political scenario in the State.

It is understood that the Congress had to immediately take a decision on statehood for the region as the TRS was growing stronger by each passing day. They reportedly said that any further delay in this regard would damage the Congress party in the next coming elections. They urged the Prime Minister to impress upon party president Sonia Gandhi to take a favorable decision.

The delegation who met the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction at the response given by the Prime Minister. Meanwhile, loyalists of the Chief Minister Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy called on the CWC members Motilal Vora and Janardhan Dwivedi and presented a status paper on the development of after the Congress Government came into power in the State.
