APLOA demands to convene meeting before enforcement of new rule
Vijayawada, February 6, 2008
It may be noted that the Road Transport Department has taken a decision of speed governors for all transport vehicles mandatory from March 1. The Andhra Pradesh Lorry Owners Association on Wednesday opposed the decision and demanded that a meeting to be convened with all stakeholders before enforcement of the new rule.
The president of APLOA, P Gopala Naidu and Secretary YV Eswara Rao said at a press conference faulted the government for installation of speed governors without discussing the issue with them. They made it clear that it is not possible to install the equipment to all vehicles due to technical reasons.
They said that the officials should convene a meeting with the manufacturers, engineering experts and lorry owners before implementing the decision. They asserted that heavy vehicles were not violating the speed limit.
