Hyderabad, February 6, 2008On Wednesday, a youth Congress leader's pistol went off accidentally critically injuring the Deputy Manager of HDFC bank official at Barkatpura branch. The bullet pierced the abdomen of V Srikanth, Deputy Manager of HDFC bank, Barkatpura branch before getting embedded inside. He was rushed to a corporate Hospital immediately. The Doctors operated and removed the bullet and his condition was stated to be critical.
According to sources, B.Srikanth, a youth Congress leader owns the Bank building got the weapon license six months ago. He bought a .32 calibre pistol. He had gone to the Bank to check up the ongoing innovation work and was speaking to the Deputy Manager when the pistol went off.
Speaking to reporters, he said that he kept the pistol on the table, the Deputy Manager took it and was examining it when it went off. However, the police officials maintain that the weapon went off in his hands while he was showing the same to the Deputy Manager. The injured officials told to the police that there was no foul play and it was purely an accident. The CLUES team is trying to ascertain whether the shot was fired when he held the weapon. The pistol was loaded with only one bullet and three more were left in the weapon pouch. A case under Arms act was registered against Srikanth.
