AP Assembly all set to become the first WiFi Legislative premises

Premises becomes Wi-Fi enabled and it is the first effort in the country

Hyderabad, February 6, 2008

The AP Legislative Assembly will create history, as the entire premise has become totally Wi-Fi enabled providing seamless connectivity to the members. As the budget session begins on February 11, members can log on to their user-friendly laptops to access information that could be used during the debates. The Speaker, K Suresh Reedy said on Wednesday that with this net surfing would become much easier.

He said that all arrangements were in place to provide seamless connectivity, the first such effort in the country, where the MLA would have such a privilege. Fifty lines of 1 MB capacity initially have been provided and the legislators could use Wi-Fi cards of internet access.

The Speaker clarified that it was not mandatory that management graduates alone should be appointed. He will consider the candidature of other postgraduates to improve functioning of the elected representatives. He added that they can also prepare a vision for the constituencies.
