Governor ND Tiwari hoisted the National Flag
Hyderabad, February 3, 2008Patriotic fervor marked Tiranga Run that was organized on Sunday to bring Pingali Venkaiah, designer of the National Flag into limelight. Lakhs of children and youngsters from all parts of the Krishna district participated in the Tiranga Run holding tricolors. The run began from Batlapenumarru, the native village of Venkaiah. A large number of people who lined up on both the sides of the 55 km route from Batlapenumarru to Vijayawada waved the tricolor cheering the participants in the Tiranga Run.
The Governor, ND Tiwari who participated in the programme as the Chief Guest hoisted the National Flag at Swaraj Maidan, the venue of Tiranga Run. The Governor and Union Minister of State for Defence Pallam Raju flagged off the run. Aerobatics and para-gliding feats displayed by Air Force left the people gathered at the venue spell bound. Cultural programmes organized at Swaraj Maidan won the applause of audience.
The Indian Olympic Association president Suresh Kalamadi said Andhra Pradesh produced several international sports stars and the event is a glorious one. He praised sports stars hailing from the city including Koneru Hampi and M Rishita. Kurukshetra MP Navin Jindal who fought for the right to hoist the national flag for every one.
