Barely a day after Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy said that the Congress was prepared to go it alone in the next elections, APCC President D Srinivas, on his part, came up with a statement that the door of the party are always open to all opposition parties except the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Bharateeya Janatha Party (BJP).

Hyderabad, February 27, 2008

The Congress party has decided that a public meeting at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad that will be addressed by Sonia Gandhi on March 14 will be a path breaking rally that in all likely hood, will send across a clear message about YSR Government's emphasis on all round development of the State.

The public meeting will mark the culmination of the whirl wing tour Sonia Gandhi to five districts to inaugurate Pushkar lift irrigation scheme, aerial survey of Polavaram project, inspection of Devadula project besides opening the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad. The Congress propose to mobilize at least ten lakh people from Telangana region for the meeting. A meeting convened by the Pradesh Congress Committee on Wednesday to fine tune the arrangements for the rally. AICC general secretary, M Veerappa Moily, Chief Minister, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy APCC in charge president GS Rao, AICC secretary Iqbal Singh and ministers from Telangana attended the meeting.

The Chief Minister asked the district Congress Committees to hold meetings on March 7 to make arrangements for the meeting. The Minister for Higher Eduction, D Srinivas and APSRTC Chairman, M Satyanarayana Rao reportedly pointed out that there was every need for the cadres to turn out in large numbers for sending a message that the party still continues to hold sway in the State. Speaking media, Moily said that the meeting would be a great rally for the party. The rally will be important for the entire country, he added.
