RTI complaints status now on SMS
Hyderabad, February 2, 2008
The Andhra Pradesh Information Commission (APIC) has introduced SMS to enable the public to find out the status of applications or complaints filed under the Right to Information Act. One can track one’s application status by sending SMS the registered number of one’s application to 99896 51152.
According to State Chief Information Commissioner CD Arha said that on receiving the SMS, the system at the commission would search the records in the database and return the application status through SMS. The system has been designed and developed by Centre for Good Governance and the service is available round the clock. The National Information Committee set up by the Central Chief Information Commissioner for coordinating suggestions received from the State Commissions and reviewing suggested amendments in the Act, met here today.
The Committee will soon meet again and submit its final recommendations by the end of June according to the Chief Information Commissioner of Punjab Rajan Kashyap. Central Information Commissioner M Anasari, State Information Commissioner Dilip Reddy and other top officials were present on the occasion.
