TRS members suspended again for two more days

Suspended for stalling the Assembly proceedings

Hyderabad, February 19, 2008

Once again, the TRS members were suspended from the State Assembly, this time for two days for stalling the proceedings demanding that the House should pass a resolution on Telanagana. This is the third time the TRS members have been suspended during the ongoing budget session.

The previous suspension of four days expired today and soon after the House assembled, the TRS members began raising slogans the moment Speaker KR Suresh Reddy declared that the adjournment motion notices given by the Opposition parties were disallowed.

Speaker adjourned the House for nearly 20 minutes but there was no improvement when the House reassembled forcing the Speaker suspended ten TRS MLAs for two days. They were later evicted by marshals. In the lobbies, the TRS members conducted a ‘mock assembly’ with K Nagesh playing the role of the Speaker. While, N Narasimha Reddy donned the role of Chief Minister, Ramalinga Reddy played the role of Opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu. They exhibited how the ruling party was suppressing the voice of Telangana in the House. They also staged a dharna in front of the Assembly entrance.
