Heated words exchanged between Akbaruddin Owaisi and TDP
Hyderabad, February 18, 2008
The murder of pharmacy student Ayesha in Vijayawada again figured in the Assembly on Monday, leading to a fracas between the MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi and Members of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
Owaisi criticized the Government for making tall claims in the Governor’s address with respect to maintenance of law and order but doing nothing to nab the culprits responsible for the Ayesha murder. Participating in the debate on the Governor’s address, he said that he was surprised that the Telugu Desam Party was taking so much interest in the case.
Protesting against the remarks, the TDP members led by D Narender recalled that N Chandrababu Naidu, then Chief Minister, had condemned the attitude of the Gujarat Government not only in this case but also in respect of Godhra. Meanwhile, the parents of Ayesha called on the Speaker KR Suresh Reddy and leaders of Opposition parties and submitted a memorandum.
