TRS legislators to embark on bus yatra

Hyderabad, February 15, 2008

For the second successive day in the Assembly on Friday, the TRS MLAs were suspended till February 18 for disrupting the proceedings demanding that a resolution be passed by the House for formation of separate Telangana. They stormed the podium as soon as the House began business. They were led by the party floor leader G Vijaya Rama Rao and insisted that the government pass a resolution, ignoring the pleas of Speaker KR Suresh Reddy. As the situation continues, the Speaker adjourned in the house for 15 minutes.

Even after the House resumed, the situation continues and the Legislative Affairs Minister K Rosaiah moved a resolution seeking suspension of 11 TRS MLAs on the eve of the presentation of budget. Speaking to media later, Vijaya Rama Rao said that the MLAs would now embark on a bus yatra on Saturday to expose to the people the double standards of the ruling Congress.

CPI floor leader Ch Venkata Reddy said that the Congress should come clean on Telanaga while BJP member G Kishan Reddy said that his party would carve a separate State, the moment it came to power. MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi demanded that the Muslims in the region should be consulted when a decision on Telangana is taken.
