Rs. 2,700 crore to be spent under RIAD

On the directions of the Chief Minister, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy, the Minister for Agriculture, N Raghuveera Reddy announced on Friday in the Legislative Council that MARKFED would enter the market on February 18 to purchase turmeric at Rs.3,000 a quintal.
During the question hour, he said that the Government had urged the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices to implement the recommendations of the MS Swami Nathan Commission in full while fixing the MSP for agricultural commodities in 2008-09. The Tribal Welfare Minister D Redya Naik said that Rs.2,700 crore would be spent under the Remote and Interior Area Development Scheme for developing T,622 remote habilitations in 18 districts.
In response to a query by Kamalakara Rao of Congress, he said the habitations in 332 mandals, covering a population of 54.38 lakhs were being provided with all amenities. Social Welfare Minister P Subash Chandra Bose told Chukka Ramaiah and others that irregularities had not been noticed in the purchase of uniform cloth by maintaining quality speculations.
