TRS stalls Assembly proceedings

TRS MPs to quit on March 3 and MLAs and MLCs on March 4

Hyderabad, February 13, 2008

The TRS members stalling the question hour demanding adoption of a resolution on creation of a separate Telangana State, the State Assembly today adjourned for the day without transacting any listed business. Despite, Speaker KR Suresh Reddy’s repeated requests that today was the first day to take up the regular business of the ongoing budget session, the TRS members raised slogans in favor of Telangana.

Meanwhile, the TRS party president K Chandrasekhar Rao after consultations with senior leaders of the party decided that its MPs will resign on their posts on March 3, three days ahead of the deadline set by the party for initiating the official process for creation of Telanagana State. Like wise, the MLAs and MLCs will follow suit on March 4.

The TRS MPs will register their protest in the Parliament on February 26, the day when the budget session will commence. On March 1, the TRS leaders will stage a demonstration at Jantar Mantar in Delhi in support of their demand before putting up their papers on March 3. The TRS president decided to start ‘Bus Yatra’ from Medaram, the famous religious spot of Sammakka Saralamma jatara in Warangal district on February 16 and incidentally, the weeklong jatara commences on the same day. It is learnt that the yatra is meant to create awareness among the people and will cover all the 16 Assembly constituencies represented by TRS MLAs who will be putting in their papers.
