Hyderabad, February 11, 2008

Today, the members of the TRS party staged a walkout from the Legislative Council to protest non-inclusion of steps for the formulation of separate Telangana Stte in the Governor’s address to the Legislature. As the proceedings commenced, TRS member led by K Dilip Kumar pressed the Chairman A Chakrapani to allow an adjournment motion for discussion on Telangana. As he turned down his request, the TRS members carrying placards marched into the well of the House raising slogans in support of separate Telangana State.

The proceedings were disrupted for nearly half an hour even repeated requests made by the Chakrapani and Legislative Affairs Minister, K Rosaiah went in vain. The TRS members who trooped out of the House for some time before leaving he premises. The TDP members too staged a walkout during the debate on the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address initiated by P Venkatarao of Congress alleging that the members was deviating from the subject in making charges against the TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu.

Paladugu Venkata Rao, who commenced his speech by highlighting the Government’s achievements, launched indirect criticism of the TDP rule claiming that the party was interested in harping the visits of Bill Gates and Bill Clinton to the State. The TDP members later squatted on the lawns in front of the Council Hall for some time, even the House was adjourned for the day.
