Land lease case to Ushodaya Publications comes up
Hyderabad, February 11, 2008A case was filed by one MAEKK Varma of Visakhapatnam a few days ago alleging that Ramoji Rao and his son indulged in fraud and foul play. Basing on the case, the Andhra Pradesh High Court today directed Ramoji Rao and his son Ch Kiran to surrender before the Station House Officer of III Town Police station in Visakhapatnam within 10 days and obtain a bail in a criminal case.
As per the case details, Varma gave a 33 years lease 2.70-acre land in Visakhapatnam to Ushodaya Publications that is owned by Ramoji Rao way back in 1974. Meanwhile, it parted with 517 square yards land to the Government for the purpose of land widening and in lieu obtained a piece of land elsewhere. Instead of registering the alternative land given by the government in the landowner’s name, Ushodaya Publications allegedly registered the piece of land in its name.
After the expiry of 33 years lease period, Ushodaya Publications approached Varma for the renewal of the lease agreement when the landowner noticed the change in land boundaries. He lodged a complaint with III Town police. Both Ramoji Rao and his son approached the High Court seeking anticipatory bail in the case. Justice P Swaroop Reddy while accepting the bail application, asked the petitioners to surrender before the Station House Officer within 10 days and obtain bail in a criminal court.
