Robbers makes away with cash and jewelery
Hyderabad, February 1, 2008In a broad daylight, three persons posing themselves as plumbers threatened a women at a knifepoint in an apartment in Somajiguda today and walked away with cash worth over Rs. 12 lakhs and gold ornaments worth over Rs. 1 lakh.
Police sources says, the trio showed up at no. 505, Encon Lake Melody apartments near Hotel Fortune Katriya at Somajiguda around 2pm. The man of the house, T Hanumanta Rao, who owns Gallery Space Arts Gallery at Banjara Hills, was away at the time and his wife, Rani opened the door. The men said they had come to fix a tap and the unsuspecting Rani allowed them in.
Instant, one of them whipped out a knife and held it against her neck. She was then locked up in a room and the three gathered the loot and coolly walked away. The incident came to light when driver Vidyasagar came to the house to pick up lunch for Hanumanta Rao. Interestingly, the two security personnel were posted at the entrance did not notice the culprits either coming or going out. Additional Commissioner (Crimes) M Punna Rao and other top officials visited the scene of offence.
