Lok Sabha Speaker disqualifies Dr. Manda Jagannadham

Disqualification based on the charges of defying the whip

Dr. Manda Jagannadham of TDP who was disqualified from the Lok Sabha on Tuesday for defying the party whip during the motion of confidence in Parliament in July. He was sailing with the ruling party since then. Soon after the vote, he called on the AICC president Sonia Gandhi and said that he voted in the interest of the nation.

In the 2004 general elections, the seat was allotted to the TRS as part of poll alliance. He won the elections as the TRS candidate KS Ratnam could not furnish the B Form on time. The Congress party is likely to field him from Nagarkurnool Parliamentary constituency in the next elections.

According to sources, if there is some problem in accommodating him from Nagarkurnool seat, there is every chance that his candidature may be considered for Alampur Assembly constituency, that was reserved for SCs after the delimitation exercise. The way is almost clear for him as another strong contender for the Nagarkurnool seat, Mallu Ravi has been elected to the State Assembly from Jadcherla in the by elections held in May this year.
