Hyderabad, August 8, 2008

The Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy has constituted a five-member group of ministers to go into the issue of rice in prices of essential commodities and suggest measures to bring them down. The Ministers in the committee includes K Rosaiah, K Krishna Reddy, K Ramakrishna, N Raghuveera Reddy and B Satyanarayana.

At a meeting with the officials of prices, the Chief Minister announced his decision to scrap the exemptions allowed last month to rice millers and traders with the intention of making rice available to people at a reasonable price.

The CM also directed the officials to verify stocks of paddy and rice with trading and non-trading rice mills and exporters. He directed the Commissioner, Commercial Taxes to furnish the details of paddy and rice passing through the check posts to other States on fortnightly basis.
