Power cuts and rains mar examination

Hyderabad, August 8, 2008

Amidst power cuts and bad weather, five day Group I mains examinations of the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission began today in the State.

Only 6,131 candidates appeared for the examination out of the 9,811 candidates on the first day registering a paltry 62.5 percent attendance. The paper I comprised questions on General English for 150 marks. This is the first batch after pattern for the mains examination was revised.

Many students complained that there were frequent power cuts during the examination in some centres in the city. The power went off due to bad weather at some centres but the students have given instructions to the staff to be prepared with generator and other auxilliary power sources. The General Essay Paper II would be conducted on Saturday.
