Congress party plans to campaign against TDP President remarks on Dy.Speaker

SC Ministers consulting legal experts to file case

Hyderabad, April 3, 2008

The State Congress has decided against allowing Leader of Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu off the hook for the remarks he made against the Deputy Speaker G Kuthuhalamma during the no-confidence motion in the Assembly on Wednesday. The Congress would politically target the TDP president in the coming days was available from the spate of activity in the ruling party's camp. Quite unusually, the Cabinet itself adopted a resolution at a meeting on Thursday condemning the conduct of Chandrababu Naidu with the Chief Minister, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy leading the charge.

Expressing solidarity with the Deputy Speaker, the Cabinet lamented that Kuthuhalamma, a doctor by qualification and four time MLA who served as Minister and Zilla Parishad chairperson was ill-treated by the TDP members forcing her to adjourn the House and vacate the chair. It is reportedly decided that the party should persist with its attack against Chandrababu Naidu to prove that the party was anti-poor, anti-Dalit and cared little for the dignity of the women.

The Minister for Information, A Ramayana Reddy speaking to media said that the Ministers complimented the Chief Minister Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy for his deft handling of no-confidence motion. The main Opposition failed to prove even a single charge against the Chief Minister and Ministers. After the meeting, six Scheduled Caste Ministers led by Koneru Ranga Rao said that they were consulting legal experts to file a case against Chandrababu Naidu under SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. They would take the issue to the people by organizing programmes during the birth anniversaries of Dr.BR Ambedkar and Babu Jagjivan Ram later this month.
